Microscopical
Society of Southern California
2013 Workshop Program |
Workshops are held on the first Saturday of every month starting at 9am. The venue rotates between Ken Gregory's residence (map and directions) and Allen Bishop's residence (map and directions). As usual, this is a chance for good friends and fellow microscopists to talk about our favorite subject. You are invited to bring any manner of items related to microscopy to share it with the fellowship. If you have something you would like to sell, please feel free to bring it and set it up at the sales table. All are encouraged to participate and join in the fun. The workshop will finish at about noon, at which point we will retire to lunch in the local Coco’s.

2013 Special Workshops
On occasion the Society also holds special or "hands-on" practical workshops, typically on a quarterly basis. Details will be posted as the program is firmed up.
The MSSC has an ongoing need for facilitators of these "hands-on" workshops. If you are interested in delivering a workshop please contact the Program Chair (see Contacts)
Forthcoming events:
MSSC Workshop, Saturday April 6, 2013 10:00 a.m.: Field Trip to RDY Sales Field trip to visit RDY, one of Southern California's best Scientific Instrument dealers with decades of experience in specialized imaging apparatus. Both old (antique) and modern microscopes will be available for our members consideration. They are by association a long time friend to our Society, the founder, Ricky Chaban was a regular speaker for our lectureship meetings when they were held at the Page Museum. He was also responsible for a good number of our members acquiring good microscopes. RDY now specializes in "pre-owned" scientific apparatus including our friend the microscope. They have a truly vast selection of fascinating pre-owned equipment from optical to fabrication equipment. They also provide custom fabricated equipment to meet almost any need in the lab or research environment. The building offers over 40,000 square feet of rare and interesting inventory. Just about anything you might need for your lab, RDY has it or can quickly find it for you. Our contact for our visit will be Dale Flores, who tells me that they will also have available for our inspection, the older brass and glass microscopes collected over the year by Ricky.
